DLSS Mods: Which One Should You Use?
New DLSS mods appear almost every week. It is hard to know which one you need. This page keeps it simple.

What these tools actually do
They fall into two groups. This is the part most guides skip.
Some tools update the DLSS version a game already has. Others add a new effect the game never shipped with. These are very different jobs.

Which one is right for you
Pick OptiScaler + DLSSNR if you want the DLSS 5 effect in a game that does not have it. Your game must already use DLSS, FSR, or XeSS. It works on DirectX 12 and Vulkan. DirectX 11 games work too, but need an extra step.
Pick DLSS Swapper if a game already has DLSS and you only want a newer version of it. It finds games from Steam, GOG, Epic, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox App and Battle.net. It checks each file against official sources before showing it to you.
One thing to know: DLSS Swapper cannot add DLSS to a game that never had it. For that job you need OptiScaler.
A note about names
Two different things sound almost the same. This confuses a lot of people.
DLSS Swapper is the file-swapping app by beeradmoore. It has been around for years.
DLSS 5 Swapper is a newer, separate mod for the DLSS 5 effect. Same word, different tool.
Always check the GitHub page before you download. The names are close enough to cause mistakes.
What DLSS 5 costs you
The Neural Rendering pass is not free performance. It runs after your upscaler. That means extra work on every single frame.
Some players report large frame rate drops. The size of the drop depends on your GPU and your game. Test it yourself before you commit to it.
Stay safe
Two rules matter more than anything else.
One. Download only from official GitHub pages. The OptiScaler team has said they have no official website and no manager app. Any site asking for money is a scam.
Two. Do not use these mods in online games. The OptiScaler team warns that it can trigger anti-cheat software and get your account banned. Single-player only.
